The department of Musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy aims to impart evidence based evaluation, clinical reasoning and management skills in the areas of orthopedics, musculoskeletal dysfunction and sports Physiotherapy.
The department aims to instill skills of evaluation and a reasoning based diagnosis in first contact practice. The role of a physiotherapist in Traumtology and orthopedic disease and surgery is also emphasized. Education includes a significant amount of practical classes and experiential learning.
The department has programs in management of people with orthopedic dysfunctions including trauma, elective surgery and musculoskeletal diseases.
The out patient department which deals with referred and first contact practice has programs in acute and rehabilitation of musculo skeletal injuries. We also provide services to sports teams where sports biomechanics assessment and management are practiced.
Research in emerging areas of musculoskeletal physiotherapy is a focus of the department. Use of evidence based clinical pathways is a feather in the cap of the department.
The department of Cardio Vascular and Pulmonary Physiotherapy aims to impart evidence based evaluation, clinical reasoning and management skills in the areas of cardiac rehabilitation and preventive cardiology; disabilities arising from vascular dysfunction, supportive care for dysfunctions arising after abdominal surgery and pulmonary disease and dysfunction.
The department aims to instill skills of evaluation and a reasoning based problem solving approach in acute care management of general surgical, gynecological, cardiac and pulmonary diseases. The major focus of intervention to decrease morbidity, hospital stay and quality of life. Interventions include educational strategies, rehabilitation and acute management.
